Lynne Spears has filed a petition requesting the court to let Britney choose her own attorney. In the court filing she stated that Britney is in a much different place than when her conservatorship began in 2008. She noted that Britney has performed multiple shows, produced multiple albums and gone on tour since then and she is able to care for herself.
„Now, and for the past many years, Conservatee is able to care for her person and in fact has, within the parameters of this conservatorship, earned literally hundreds of millions of dollars as an international celebrity,“ the petition states.
She also asked the court to “listen to the wishes of her daughter“ and stated that „This Motion to Appoint Private Counsel is of the utmost importance and may very well impact each and every of the other requests submitted by Conservatee in her live testimony at the June 23 Hearing. It is self-evident that before the Court addresses, forexample, the termination of the conservatorship, Conservatee must be allowed to consult with counsel of her choosing.“
It is clear that Lynne wants all of Britney’s requests to be approved, including the termination of the conservatorship and that is why Britney needs to be able to pick her own attorney.
