GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, has announced that they will honor Britney at the 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards on April 12 in Los Angeles and Britney is set to attend the ceremony, of course.
“An irrefutable icon, Britney Spears has entertained the world while also embodying the spirit of GLAAD’s Vanguard Award by speaking out on significant issues that face her fans – from the Dream Act to anti-transgender bills in Texas,” said Sarah Kate Ellis, President and CEO of GLAAD. “She is a force in the music world who has used her global platform to share messages of love and acceptance, something that the world needs today more than ever.”
Britney posted on Instagram about this and said
Honored to be receiving the Vanguard Award at the @GLAAD Media Awards this year! The LGBTQ community means the absolute world to me and inspires me every day. I am proud to be an ally and I will continue to support equality and acceptance for all!!
What a year! And it’s only January. In a new interview with BrandChannel, PepsiCo CMO Greg Lyons confirmed that Britney will appear in a new Pepsi commercial airing during the Super Bowl next month. But don’t get too excited about this… It looks like Brit’s only one of the many artists that will appear on it. Moreover, it hasn’t been confirmed wheter it’s old footage from one of Brit’s many adverts for Pepsi or if it’s a new commercial.
Here’s what Greg Lyon said:
Let’s talk about Pepsi returning to the Super Bowl with an update on the iconic Cindy Crawford ad. How did you arrive at bringing Cindy into the spotlight again for the brand?
Greg: Pepsi has been part of the culture for the past 120 years, whether it’s music or sports or celebrity, and so we’re launching a new campaign that we’re going to kick off at the Super Bowl, called Pepsi Generations, and it’s celebrating our history in pop culture with some of the most famous partners we’ve ever had.
So as we announced, Cindy Crawford’s part of it, along with her son Presley, and it will also feature Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Uncle Drew is going to be part of it, so it’s jam-packed with iconic artists that were part of our history and it’s going to end with a look forward at where we’re going as a brand as well.
It’s a full-year campaign with Pepsi, Diet Pepsi and Pepsi Zero Sugar in the Super Bowl ad and as part of the campaign going forward, and it’s going to be reinforced in-store.
We’re going to launch that iconic 80’s red, white and blue Pepsi cans in-store around the Super Bowl and bring the Pepsi Stuff promotion where you can win really cool Pepsi gear and experiences all year long. It’s just a wonderful, feel-good campaign, getting back to what we’re great at for Pepsi.
Now, Cindy Crawford’s new adv for the Super Bowl is just a remake of her old commercial… So we can imagine that Britney will do the same with one of her famous commercials. That’s not to crazy isn’t it? We don’t know yet but we are already excited, even if it’s a few seconds.
There are even fans who thinks that the seacret project she teased on Instagram back in November is indeed this commercial for Pepsi. They think she’s wearing an overall just like in The Joy of Pepsi commercial.
Last night, Britney performed live Piece Of Me’s “Work Bitch” and “Toxic”on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest. The performance was pre-recorded at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino two days ago.
Earlier today, Britney attended the grand opening of the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation’s Britney Spears Campus in Las Vegas.
“I’m just really excited to be standing here for our new NCCF campus,” Britney said during the ceremony. “We started fundraising in 2014 and we’ve raised $1 million to build this amazing facility to support the kids and the families everywhere. I’m so thankful to everyone for their generosity in making this a reality and making this happen.”
“We can’t thank Britney enough being able to do this. Our dream for many, many years has been to be able to have one one building that all of our 45 programs can come together in one place. And that we are able to to today,” NCCF CEO Jeff Gordon said. “And that doesn’t happen without someone like Britney Spears.”
Through working with Spears and her team, he said, “We saw a side of Britney Spears that so many people maybe don’t have the opportunity to see. You realize what a special person Britney is. She’s an incredible performer, we know all that, but she does care and the more we’ve gotten to know her, the more grateful we’ve become to her, and the kids have adored her.”
“Thirty-five days ago our community when through something that we will never forget. People around the world got to see a side of Vegas that they had never seen before. They saw the love that Las Vegas has,” he said. “Today is similar to that because until today people haven’t totally understood what Britney Spears has meant to this community. We’ve all seen her on stage, we’ve all seen her perform and what a phenomenal performer and entertainer she is, but what’s she’s doing today is another side of Britney that unfortunately most of us haven’t had the opportunity to see before.
He added, “What she is doing today, and continues to do, is going to benefit thousands of children that comes through this facility, and for that we are sincerely thankful and very, very appreciative.”
Britney Spears is scheduled to attend the grand opening of the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation’s new facility called “Britney Spears Campus” on November 4th in Las Vegas. This new facility was made thanks to Britney’s donation from her POM ticket sales and other events.
The new facility, which houses 45 programs and services for children diagnosed with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses as well as adults diagnosed with cancer, was made possible by Britney Spears and her efforts to raise one million dollars with donations from ticket sales from her “Piece of Me” show at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino[, as well as major donors including Southwest Specialty Contractors, Zappos, Robert Earl, Live Nation, Fusch Commercial Interiors and Design, Caesars Entertainment, Elizabeth Arden and Ann White of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
The Britney Spears Campus is is a 16,000 square-foot facility combining more than 45 pediatric and adult services for children diagnosed with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses as well as adults diagnosed with cancer. NCCF’s services were previously located at two separate facilities in the valley.
The new facility is located at 3711 E. Sunset Road. There will be an open house from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 4.
